"Consider what you are actually achieving, consider in what context and for what purposes your work is being applied. Then ask yourself: Do I want to serve these purposes with my own hands?"
Joseph Weizenbaum
Nextcloud is the leading Open Source platform for digital sovereignty and collaboration. As an on-premises solution, it gives organizations full control at all times over where their data is stored and who has access to it.
I have been active in the Open Source software industry for more than two decades. My career began as a software engineer at ownCloud, after which I co-founded Nextcloud and have since taken on a range of strategic and operational responsibilities within the organization.
Currently, I serve as the PreSales Lead at Nextcloud, where I manage a distributed team spanning across multiple time zones. I’m a strong advocate of diversity and remote, asynchronous, and self-organized work models — approaches I believe are essential to building high-performing teams in today’s global environment. Together with my team, I support organizations in integrating Nextcloud seamlessly into their business processes, enhancing efficiency, security, and long-term success.
Drawing on my extensive Open Source background — dating back to the 1990s — I also advise both internal teams and customers on best practices for adopting and leveraging Open Source software effectively.
Software Engineering at Nextcloud — Contributed to the development of core platform components, including file sharing, versioning and both server-side and end-to-end encryption. Designed and implemented major system architectures such as Federation and Global Scale, enabling seamless deployments serving millions of users.
Transition to Sales Engineering — After several years in development, I shifted focus toward customer engagement, leveraging my technical expertise to provide comprehensive, solution-oriented support that bridges technology and business needs.
